Threshold Guide | Transformational Coach | Women with PhDs

I am the guide i once needed

Over the course of my life, I have reinvented myself seven times. Some reinventions were chosen. Others were not.

I was a first-generation college student who lost both parents before the age of 18. I learned early how to survive on my own — self-reliant, capable, and quietly carrying everything. Those patterns built a respected 35-year career in higher education. They also disconnected me from myself.

From the outside, my life looked meaningful and accomplished. Inside, I was exhausted.

At midlife, the strategies that had once kept me safe began to feel suffocating. I felt invisible in rooms I had helped build. I longed for more joy, freedom, and alignment — and I didn't yet know what was possible beyond the life I had mastered.

In 2020, a global crisis collided with a personal one. For the first time in years, I slowed down enough to hear a quiet but undeniable truth: This life is no longer working.

I submitted my retirement papers. June 1, 2022 marked the real beginning of my transformation.

I didn't just change careers. I reclaimed my power. And then I faced another threshold I didn't choose — the end of a 27-year marriage. That experience clarified everything:

This work is not about career change. It is about crossing thresholds of becoming.

Today I guide women with PhDs who are standing at a similar threshold — brilliant, high-achieving, and quietly done with a life that no longer fits. Not to fix them. To walk beside them as they become who they were always meant to be.

My work integrates women-centered coaching, applied positive psychology, and identity-level transformation — not as techniques, but as a way of accompanying women through the liminal space between who they have been and who they are becoming. I do not rush clarity. I do not bypass discomfort. I work in deep, structured containers with women who are ready to stop betraying themselves.

WHO I SERVE

I work with women at midlife and beyond — with PhDs and other doctorates — who are overwhelmed, under-valued, and fed up. Women at a life threshold: a divorce, a layoff, an empty nest, a health wake-up call, or simply the slow suffocation of a role they've outgrown.

They are brilliant. They are capable. And if they could have figured this out alone, they already would have.

My LinkedIn page provides more details about my work experience, career accomplishments and education.

The deeper conversation lives on Substack. Find me at Sovereign PhD Woman.

When you're ready to cross the threshold, I'll be here.
